On a cold, rainy day this week, a 13-month old baby girl was found alone in an Occupy DC tent. Thirty minutes after police officers arrived, the little girl’s father returned. He was subsequently arrested and charged with 2nd degree cruelty to children.
It goes without saying that if the same thing had occurred at a Tea Party rally it would have been front-page news and the infant’s father would be held up as the face of a heartless, conservative movement.
Regardless, this sad incident serves as a good reminder to activists and social do-gooders on either side of the political spectrum: charity must always begin at home.
