On a cold, rainy day this week, a 13-month old baby girl was found alone in an Occupy DC tent.  Thirty minutes after police officers arrived, the little girl’s father returned.  He was subsequently arrested and charged with 2^nd degree cruelty to children.

It goes without saying that if the same thing had occurred at a Tea Party rally it would have been front-page news and the infant’s father would be held up as the face of a heartless, conservative movement.

Regardless, this sad incident serves as a good reminder to activists and social do-gooders on either side of the political spectrum: charity must always begin at home.
