This awesome video (via HotAir) shows concerned Catholic citizens confronting Rep. Kathy Hochul (D-NY 26) over her support for the anti-conscience mandate in Obamacare:
The local news gets plenty of facts wrong. For instance, it mentions the President’s compromise even though it carries no force of law whatsoever. Rep. Hochul’s claim that the mandate is not problematic because “Catholic Churches are exempted” is also a red herring. To take a third example, the news reporter refers to this as a “social issue” when it is in fact a Constitutional issue. The media is consistently misreporting this controversy.
It’s better to focus of what the report shows about how Catholics are activating on a grassroots level to respond to the mandate and put politicians on notice who voted for it’s implementation in the first place.
I hope to see more Catholics confronting their representatives if they support the anti-conscience mandate.
If you’ve found reports or video of such encounters, please drop them in the comments.

Thomas, I was there at that Town Hall meeting. It was amazing to see not only the number of people, but that they were people who knew the issues involved (much better than our Representative did, by the way). The meeting was supposed to start at 10:30 am, but by 10:05 am it was standing room only! Rep. Hochul and her team were overheard to say that they didn't know why there were so many people there. Little did they know... ;-)! The video you posted gives some idea of what went on--there's another video segment from the meeting that has been posted on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyhaf4xeD78 where Rep. Hochul was asked directly where in the Constitution the government is allowed to require private or religious organizations to provide anything for free--she replied that "We didn't really look to the Constitution for that..." Interesting admission! She also admitted that she hadn't read the Health Care law either. The amount of attention this has gotten locally as well as through national websites like yours is very encouraging. There are going to be more rallies at the offices of our Congressmen (here in NY you know how THEY'RE all voting!). We have some very strong local leadership--Fr. Leon being one of the best--so I'm hopeful that our numbers will only continue to grow. Thanks for posting this!

Here is a video from the same town hall that is viral. It has me asking Hochul what part of the Constitution allows the Federal Government to require a private or religious institution to pay for anything for free! This is an attack on all freedom loving Americans, not just Catholics. The thought process of the Democrats thinking they do not need the Constitution to restrain them and that they can push the false narrative that Catholics are against women when in fact it is them trampling on the First Amendement freedom of religion - is a faulty message that is severely damaging the country. We need to stop this as citizens! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Kmp-am_FdQ

Thank you Brad. Great job. The promising thing here is that she really did seem tempted to drop the party line and agree with you guys. I think that raising the issue at events like this could be effective to cause some elected officials to re-think it.

A typical media snow job for the left. The way they edited that story made it sound like the "compromise" solved the problem. They didn't bother to touch upon why it doesn't!

That is why we have to push out the video I posted above to national media. Some have it but not enough. Local media has got it now. It was not put in the original newscast but we had a copy.
