Fun Video: Dominican Novices Hold Jazz Jam Session In Priory Garage

It’s almost the weekend — time for a post that’s just fun! A reader writes:

What happens when six Dominican Novices go to the garage of St. Gertrude Priory in Cincinnati, OH? Jazz music!

Notice the statue of St. Dominic keeps vigil as the friars play (it is being restored by one of the novices).

Watch for yourself….

There are many young dominicans who are also incredibly talented musicians. I’ve had the privilege of hearing some of their informal jam sessions take place after they host mini-retreats with young Catholics in the Washington, DC area.

If you can’t get enough, watch their rendition of “Blues For Alice.”

And if you really can’t get enough (and live near Cincinnati), check out the Riverboat Jazz Concert hosted by the Dominican Novices aboard the S.S. River Chief: Monday July 18th at 7:30 P.M.

Catholic culture – it’s a beautiful (sounding) thing.

Gotta love Fr. Ben’s vocation plug. The man never misses a beat (unlike, perhaps, some of these novices (teehee))

Thomas: did you consider the priesthood?

Thomas. Sorry for another off-topic comment, but thought you and your readers would want to know about the pig payoff (oops – big payoff) that NY State Senator Alesi (Republican) has received for his about face on “homosexual marriage”…. “Alesi received the $10,300 maximum each from Tim Gill, a wealthy Colorado entrepreneur who heads the gay-rights group Gill Foundation, billionaire Robert Ziff and Frank Selvaggi, a member of the Empire State Pride Agenda board. Ziff also gave Alesi $6,500 for a potential primary election. Alesi also received $10,300 from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.”

That’s super. So nice to see these happy young men, having some fun.

    Oof, I’m afraid that’s a bit painful.
