Obama & HHS Give New Hampshire Planned Parenthood $1 Million After State Revoked Their Funding

All of our success at defunding Planned Parenthood state-by-state has clearly upset President Obama and his Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius.

After New Hampshire decided to cut $1.8 Million in taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood in their state, Kathleen Sebelius responded by giving $1 Million in taxpayer dollars directly to the abortion provider to make up some of the difference.

Planned Parenthood had attempted to lobby the N.H. members who made the decision to cut the funding and ask them to restore it, but got nowhere (Michael New has more background here).

So Planned Parenthood was forced to call in their Washington, DC protectors.

Because, as we know, when it comes to funding the political-abortion machine which is Planned Parenthood, Kathleen Sebelius and President Obama are always there to sign the check.

John Hayward at Human Events writes about what Obama and Sebelius are telling pro-life Americans with this decision:

“Americans will fund Planned Parenthood. No, you do not have any say in the matter.  Your freedom, moral sensibilities, and rights of self-determination end where Planned Parenthood’s needs begin.”

… of course, that’s only if we take this move lying down.

The Susan B. Anthony list, for instance, has launched a petition where people can tell Kathleen Sebelius and President Obama to stop interfering with New Hampshire’s right to defund Planned Parenthood. New Hampshire’s state motto is “Live Free or Die.” Americans have the right to seek freedom from the death caused by abortion.

Planned Parenthood’s desperate need to ask their friends in the federal government to come to their rescue in states like New Hampshire (and Indiana, and others) shows how weakened they have become. As we continue to work to defund Planned Parenthood state-by-state, we must also never let up on our efforts to defund Planned Parenthood at the federal level as well.

Not one dime for abortion, anywhere, anymore!

How can they simply “find” money when things are supposedly so tough? That is what I don’t get.

We are broke, but hey, need a million? Here you go!

    • tresbambinas

As long as that million is for killing pre-born babies…

  • Paul C

Tom, you consistently make me proud to be an American Catholic. Way to call out the Big Abortion Industry and culture of death that is endemic to the Obama administration!

  • Helen S.

I don’t know why JFK is brought up in this at all. It’s not fair to him. I thought funding to Planned Parenthood was cut off. What happened there?
PS, the Civil Rights Movement and abortion are too different things

  • David Elton

Under what constitutional provision can the Feds override a decision of a state legislature? Commerce Clause? Roe v. Wade?

  • Elizabeth V

Don’t blame me, I voted for McCain!

I don’t vote for anyone who is pro abortion and I blame this thing that happened on those “catholics” who voted for Obama

  • Matt B

No doubt, Obama fancies himself another Kennedy, who blasted past the resistance of southern states to civil rights with federal resources and dollars.

How pathetic. How absurdly, disgustingly pathetic.

    • Whitney

You are absolutely right, Matt. Kennedy was wrong when he pushed aside states’ rights in the name of liberal PC “tolerance,” and 0bama is ten times as wrong by robbing the American people to pay for federally-subsidized infanticide when the states have rejected doing the same.

      • Matt B

What’s pathetic is that Obama considers himself a Kennedy-esqe figure. The comparison between civil rights and abortion rights is pretty cynical and self-serving. The optimism and exhuberance of Camelot have been reduced to Chicago-style sewer rat politics and empty oratory. “The Best and the Brightest” have become the “The Shameless Sluts of Politics and Issue-oriented Academia.” It’s a brutish statement of what we have become post-Humanae Vitae. Your observation on states rights deserves a further clarification, Whtney: it’s the difference between a federal marshal played by Jimmy Stewart who “cleans up Dodge,” and an oily hired gun with a corrupt court order, who clears out the tenant farmers to make way for a condom factory. But thank you for your assist!

        • Matt B

But I guess what works for the “Silver Dollar President” also works for the president who reduced the value of that dollar to a dime! Just shows how the same instument (federal power) in different hands can have entirely different results. Like what happens to a dove in the hands of Ozzie Osborne, as opposed to JPII; or a Nobel peace prize in the hands of an Al Gore, as opposed to Mother (Saint) Teresa. “From whom much has been given, much will be required.” Peace!
