Sick: China’s New Lucrative Business is Dead Babies Sold As Stamina Booster Pills

[UPDATE – many folks are doubting the veracity of this story. I hope they’re completely right, and agree with them that the proof for this is shaky. If anyone finds evidence supporting or debunking the claims made by the IBTimes below, please let me know!]

Stomach this story … if you can:

A South Korean SBS TV documentary team accuses Chinese pharmaceutical companies of selling dead baby pills as stamina boosters.

The team reveals that the truth behind the dead baby pill is horrific and disturbing.

Chinese hospitals and abortion clinics that are connected to the business immediately notify pharmaceutical companies when a baby dies, mostly because of a still birth or an abortion.

The companies purchase the baby corpses and store them in some family’s refrigerator to avoid suspicion. The next step in this highly secretive process is putting the corpses in a medical drying microwave and grinding them into pills. The ground baby powder is then put in a capsule, ready to be sold as a stamina enhancer, according to the SBS team.

The Korean team acquired the dead baby capsules and ran DNA tests on it. The test results reportedly indicated the pills were 99.7 percent human. The test also found hair and nail remnants, and even the gender of the baby could be identified. The process will be aired with visuals in the SBS TV documentary on Aug. 6, 2011 in South Korea. I know this is gross and disturbing, but this sort of practice is the danger we run as a society when we cease to respect human life at all stages — we can be misled into treating unborn children like “raw material” and not like the unique human beings they are from their first moment.

What makes us recoil about this story the most is that we know –despite what some pro-aborts claim– that unborn babies are not just “clumps of cells” or “tissue.” Human fetuses are human beings. And to consume them in the way these “booster pills” suggest is akin to cannibalism. This reminds me of a visceral argument for the unique nature of human embryos: if human embryos are just microscopic clumps of cells, would you mind if someone sprinkled microscopic embryos on your salad so you could eat them by the dozens?

Most of us will instantly get the reference “Soylent Green is people” (ask them). It’s a quote from a 1973 movie with Charlton Heston about a future dystopia where the world’s food supply has run out. In China, Soylent Green is dead babies. We live in a dystopian world which devalues human life to the point of selling it when it has expired.

The future of humanity is only bright if we refuse to let this type of sickness linger any longer.

Tom–I mistrust the reporting on this story. It has more behind it than the “eating babies in China” urban legend that one of the comments here mentions, but it’s still a sensationalist account out of a sensationalist program in South Korea, and it’s missing facts like the name of the hospital in which the report was supposedly filmed. Doesn’t mean it’s false, of course, but we should probably be skeptical till more facts emerge.

Jody – agreed. I’ve posted this update to the top of the story:

“The claim that killing and eating babies (or fetuses) is a common and accepted practice in China (or Thailand, Japan, Korea, or Israel, etc.) is essentially a modern version of an ancient form of bigotry known as “blood libel,” which historically consisted of one group accusing another of murdering infants during the course of ritual sacrifices” There is little in this post that appears true or even plausible. One has to question what exactly the intent of the article was… I don’t find this post Catholic in the least and the author should be ashamed.

          • Esther Ventura Ferencz

@James, SORRY your ‘blood libel’ comment does not pass mustard……………particular in regards China and their TOTAL lack of respect of HUMAN LIFE and ABORTION! AS posted to JOSEPH I stated I know of an American who has lived and worked at a University level for 10 years now. They have indicated by their LIVING there and observations as to how that nation lives and operates…ITS A MOST DEFINITE possibilty. NOW to say this, the author of this article is to be ashamed? NO sir shame on YOU, as you completly disavow any possibilty that this is YES happening.

@Joseph I am glad you do not totally debunk this story, as I have absolute no doubt that this is taking place. I know of an individual who, as an American, teaches at the University Level in China, they have spoken at length as to the TOTAL LACK of all human respect, and that the Chinese would DO and ACT in any ways that would make them monies. YES THIS is not only plausible but very likely.
