Bishop Jenky of Peoria has an excellent letter that will be read at all the Masses this weekend in his diocese. It’s too good to just cite one part so here it is in toto:
Dear Catholic Believers,
Since the foundation of the American Republic and the adoption of the Bill of Rights, I do not think there has ever been a time more threatening to our religious liberty than the present. Neither th... More
In the courtroom, you are asked to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
In politics, our elected officials stick to a different standard. No one is really surprised by this. A politician describes the country’s current situation and their own views in the best possible light. They put a silver lining on all bad news. They oversell their own plan as the only real way to ... More
I understand there’s another major speech tonight by the President of the United States, making the best case he can why he should be reelected. Sisyphean task, that.
It will, however, be followed by what I’m most interested in: Cardinal Dolan’s closing prayer. THAT. could be the highlight of the conventions season if the Dems continue their anti-God, anti-Jerusalem, anti-life, a... More

Read details here, and see some pictures I gathered below.

By now, you’ve probably heard of Karen Klein, the 68-year-old school bus monitor from upstate New York who was mocked and harassed by a group of teenagers. Klein, a widower and whose oldest son committed suicide about 10 years ago, was taunted by a mob of kids because, among other things, she was overweight.
The entire encounter was posted on YouTube and can be viewed here. Fair warning: it is ... More
Mary Higgins Clark was asked by the New York Times:
If you could require the president to read one book, what would it be?
And she replied:
The Constitution, with emphasis on the First Amendment.
She is Catholic, and the reminder sure is timely as we consider who will be president come January 20th.

I encourage everyone who ever happens upon this website (it is safe to assume you have some interest in Catholicism and/or voting) to be sure and read James Taranto’s interview piece with Timothy Cardinal Dolan today in the Wall Street Journal. The cardinal points to a real challenge we lay Catholics have to take very seriously.
From the Taranto piece:
American Catholics have in fact become ... More
“Thank you.” Two very simple words that can mean so much. So in this fight for religious freedom, how about we show some gratitude? There are some names below of men and women who are do some overdue thanks. There are others — this is far from an all-inclusive list — but here is a start.
And the gals at the end, do say: We notice the women who oppose the HHS Mandate, unlike much of... More
