The Conclave Cometh

If you haven’t heard, the College of Cardinals has set a start date for the conclave: next Tuesday, March 12. A Mass pro eligendo Romano Pontifice—for the election of a new Roman Pontiff—will be celebrated in St. Peter’s Basilica that morning.

Yesterday, I had the chance to sit down with Maureen Ferguson of the Catholic Association and Jonathan Hunt on Fox News Live to talk about what is on the minds of the Cardinals as they head into the conclave and what we might expect from the next pope.

Well Stephen, you and Maureen did your best to present from the Church’s perpective why a papal election is important as your host tried to make both of you see how important from a political perspective, the next papacy should be.
The secular media simply can’t understand the language you used, the idea of “saving souls” is so far out of their conciences, they have no blooming idea as to what you and Maureen were trying to convey. I hope many Catholics were listening and they probably felt they had landed on planet Venus. The secular media does not even try to make an effort to figure out where we are coming from with our Catholic faith and perspective.
