LOOP: Trump considering emergency powers to build wall

NATIONAL EMERGENCY  House Armed Services Chairman Adam Smith, a Washington Democrat, said that President Trump would have the authority to declare a national emergency to construct a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. “Unfortunately, the short answer is yes,” said Rep. Smith, who also stated his opposition to the proposal. On Friday, President Trump mentioned in a press briefing that he has the authority to build a wall by declaring a national emergency, but that he wants to continue negotiating with Congress to get the funding.  READ
