SUPREME COURT AND ABORTION  The abortion lobby is asking the Supreme Court to stop a pro-life Louisiana law from taking affect next week. The Supreme Court ruled in 2016 that a similar Texas law was unconstitutional, but that was decided before Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh joined the bench. The law requires abortionists to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of their clinic.  READ
NEW YORK, THEN RHODE ISLAND?  New York recently passed a new pro-abortion law. Now Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo wants to be next. Raimondo, who claims to be Catholic, said: “Let’s make this the year we codify women’s access to reproductive health care here in Rhode Island,” she said. The legislative push to codify abortion in state law comes as Democrats get nervous that the new majority on the Supreme Court could begin rolling back legal abortion.  READ
VIRGINIA, TOO?  Lawmakers in Virginia are considering a bill to allow women to abortion their unborn child until the moment the baby is born. Under current Virginia law, three physicians must conclude that a third-trimester abortion is “necessary” to preserve the health of the mother. The new legislation would eliminate that requirement. Once solidly Republican, Virginia has transformed into a Democratic stronghold over the last 10 years, in large measure because of the growing number of federal employees. READ
DEMOCRATS DELAY   Senate Democrats delayed a final Senate Judiciary Committee vote on William Barr, President Trump’s nominee to serve as attorney general. Democrats raised concerns that Barr might attempt to limit the probe by special counsel Robert Mueller. A vote on Barr is still likely next week. READ
EXCOMMUNICATION   Canon lawyer Ed Condon says it’s time to excommunicate New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. “Cuomo, through his murderous support for abortion legislation, coupled with his consistent invocation of his own Catholic identity, has crossed over from private failing to public witness against the faith,” wrote Condon. READ
WORLD YOUTH DAY  The 15th international World Youth Day ended Sunday in Panama. Despite large crowds, the attendance at this recent World Youth Day was significantly lower than the 2.5 million estimated at the 2016 Krakow meeting and the  2013 youth gathering in Rio. READ
SAINT OF THE DAY  Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska founded the Felician Sisters as a result of a conversion experience she had while convalescing from an illness. At the age of 44 she was forced to resign due to ill health. She lived, however, into her 70s.  READ
