Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s Plan B was to repeal Obamacare and replace it within 2 years. That idea was already dead by lunch. But McConnell will still push for a vote next week on the bill. Unless something changes, the bill is doomed as all Democrats, and four Republicans have announced their opposition.
“For the information of all Senators, at the request of the President and Vice President and after consulting with our members, we will have the vote on the Motion to Proceed to the Obamacare repeal bill early next week,” McConnell, R-Ky., announced on the Senate floor.
The bill will replicate a 2015 measure Senate Republicans passed which would have repealed much of Obamacare after a two-year delay that would provide time for bipartisan legislation to replace it.
