I Googled ‘55 Million.’ Here Is What I Found.

When the Drudge Report linked Kristen Hawkins’ piece about being “overwhelmed” by the 55 million deaths of unborn children since Roe v. Wade became law in 1973, it had the intended effect. For me, anyway.

55 million

It’s hard to believe: 55 million people who should be here, aren’t.

So I Googled “55 million.” Here’s what I found.

Facebook status

There were 55 million status updates per day on Facebook in 2013.

paper clips

Americans use nearly 55 million paper clips a day.

55 million meals are served in Disneyland parks each year.

royal wedding

55 million Americans watched Prince Charles wed Lady Diana on television in 1981.

55 million is 10% of children under the age of 5 worldwide today.

55 million is the population of Italy.

55 million people died from 1939-45 in World War II, including the holocaust and Chinese revolution.

In 2011, an estimated 55 million people died worldwide.

And since 1973, 55 million people have been legally killed in America because the Supreme Court decided they have no right to life.

This is why we March, no matter what the weather.

That’s so sad. Abortion is murder. When a pregnant mother is murdered they will call it double murder and that’s the law. Why then legalize abortion? It’s just like legalize murder.

  2. Rita says:

Everyone should be pro-choice. The choice is made when you decide to have sex. After you make that choice it is not right to kill a baby just so you do not have to face up to the responsibility
    of raising a child.

  3. Richard Wagener says:

The slaughter goes and our country is in a death spiral. coincidence? No way!

    1. Mary says:

If our country is in a death spiral ( I’d like to see a reputable source for this anyways…), the numbers of abortions are NOT factored into that. How could they be? They are accounting for PEOPLE which these aborted fetuses ARE NOT.

      1. DeeDee says:

So if you want the baby it’s a baby and if you don’t it’s a fetus? Makes perfect sense for justifying murder.

        1. Mary says:

What you’re saying is not relevant to what I said. But, you want to go there so let’s go there. The point at which a fetus becomes more than that, an actively thinking human, is subjective. Some will argue its at the time of conception, others argue it is at birth. I don’t see justification that fetuses are babies until they’re born. At that point, they can finally think, see, feel, touch, hear, breathe, taste. The early characteristics of a small human. And I wasn’t justifying murder, because this ISN’T murder. I am justifying everyone’s right to their own damn decisions about their own damn bodies.

        2. Brenda says:

Well, a fetus is ok, it is a human. A baby, a toddler, a teenager, a middle age woman or man, an elder, they are all human. That’s the important thing. You kill one, you kill a human being, not monkeys, not dogs, not spiders, not fish.
This a call for human rights, to protect the most vulnerable.

      2. James says:

Fetus, infant, toddler, teenager… people have many names and designations throughout their lives. The fact that you cannot dispute is that this person has unique DNA. You can deny the science all you want, but that does not change the facts. They are alive inside their mother’s womb and nobody should have the right to arbitrarily kill them.

      3. MaryS says:

“The idea that some lives matter less is the root of all that is wrong with the world.”
        - Dr. Paul Farmer, anthropologist, physician and humanitarian

  4. Christine Gawrychowski-Mazzarino says:

  5. JOYCE WILLIS says:

I pray for forgiveness of all the parents who have murdered their unborn children. May they change their hearts and work toward reversal of this law making if “legal” to abort what God has made

    1. Mary says:

This law will never get reversed. We live in a progressive world and if anything, we are moving faster towards making abortion legal everywhere. Women have the right to choose whatever the hell they want to do with their bodies, and its unfortunate that our hostile society makes them feel as though they don’t this choice, and that is thanks to people like you.

  6. Anthony says:

By combining all these trivial matters in with the abortion numbers the effect of the post is actually to trivialize the number not emphasize it.
