DEMOCRATS ON KAVANAUGH Senate Democrats remain bitterly divided over the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is trying to “whip” all 49 Democrats against the nomination, while hoping to pick up a Republican dissenter. But Sen. Joe Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat, is pushing back against his leader for pressuring him to vote no. Manchin said: “I’ll be 71 years old in August, you’re going to whip me? WOMEN DEFEND KAVANAUGH Former female employees are defending Judge Brett Kavanaugh after a feminist group questioned whether Kavanaugh knew about the bad behavior of his former boss, Judge Alex Kozinski. “I worked for Alex Kozinski in the summer of 1992, while Brett Kavanaugh was a law clerk,” said Leslie Fahrenkopf Foley. “It was a completely professional environment, and I never saw or experienced any harassment, nor did I ever feel uncomfortable. Brett Kavanaugh is, moreover, a consummate gentleman, and I cannot imagine he ever knew about or condoned any workplace misconduct by Judge Kozinski or anyone else.” READ |

ABOLISH ICE? REALLY? Liberal activists, and even a few Democratic lawmakers, are calling for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency to be abolished. House Republicans are considering bringing such a bill to the House floor, not because they support the plan, but in order to put wavering Democrats on the spot. Rep. Mark Walker, R-NC, said: “If you are going so far as to draft legislation, then evidently you want a vote on it. So maybe we should.” READ |
