VA GOVERNOR IN HOT WATER   It wasn’t Gov. Ralph Northam’s infanticide comments that endangered him with his party. It was a photo of a person in blackface standing next to a person in a Klansman robe in his medical school yearbook that has fueled Democratic calls for the Virginia governor to resign. He refused to do so on Saturday, but there are rumors that he might change his mind soon.  READ
“EVIL, PURE, AND SIMPLE”   Archbishop Joseph Naumann denounced the legislative efforts in New York, Virginia, and other states to promote abortion, calling it “evil, pure, and simple.” Archbishop Naumann is the USCCB Chairman for Pro-Life Activities. He said: “Abortion has always been built on a lie. Today, the lie is switching from ’abortion is a choice’ to ’abortion is healthcare.'” READ
CATHOLICS AND ABORTION  Bishop Daly of Spokane, WA: “Politicians who reside in the Catholic Diocese of Spokane, and who obstinately persevere in their public support for abortion, should not receive Communion without first being reconciled to Christ and the Church.”  READ
PELOSI READY FOR HARDBALL?   If President Trump declares a national emergency to build a barrier on the southern border, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is likely to use the Congressional Review Act to put Republican lawmakers on the record. Such legislation would pass the House, and only need a simple majority in the Senate — causing some tough votes for Republican senators. If it passed, Trump would veto it, but Republicans might not be able to duck a vote on the issue.  READ
TRUMP PLANS TO TALK UNITY   Tomorrow night, President Trump will deliver the State of the Union address. And the normally confrontational Trump is hoping to bridge the partisan divide. “I really think it’s going to be a speech that’s going to cover a lot of territory, but part of it’s going to be unity,” said Trump.  READ
STRANGE ALLIANCES  Julia Beck was removed from the Baltimore LGBTQ Commission because she referred to a male rapist as a man even though he claims he’s a woman. The prisoner was then moved to a woman’s prison where he raped more women. Now Beck is working with conservatives to push back at the excesses of the trans movement.  READ
ANTI-CHRISTIAN DISCRIMINATION   Catholic school students are suing the State of Vermont for the exclusion of private religious schools from taking part in a college credit program.  READ
POPE ARRIVES IN ABU DHABI   Pope Francis arrived in Abu Dhabi for a quick visit with the Muslim-majority nation.  READ
SAINT OF THE DAY  Saint Joseph of Leonissa was known for his austerity of life and single-minded commitment to preaching. Arrested and warned to change his ways, Saint Joseph returned to his former behavior and was re-arrested and condemned to die. He escaped, however, and continued a life of preaching. READ
