Venezuelans waited in lines to buy water and fuel, as protests and looting broke out. Merchants unable to keep refrigerators running gave meat, cheese and other food to customers.  READ 
COVINGTON   The family of Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann will be suing CNN for $250 million, their lawyer told Fox News. “CNN couldn’t resist the idea that here’s a guy with a young boy, that Make America Great Again cap on. So they go after him,” said attorney Lin Wood. READ 
TRANSGENDER IDEOLOGY  The Iowa Supreme Court ruled that Medicaid funds must cover “gender transition” surgeries. READ 
ILLEGALS AND VOTING   House Republicans offered an amendment to an election bill that stated “allowing illegal immigrants the right to vote devalues the franchise and diminishes the voting power of United States citizens.” All but six Democrats voted against the amendment.  READ 
ACTOR CHARGED Actor Jussie Smollett was indicted on 16 felony counts in connection with his apparent hate crime hoax. Each count carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $25,000 fine.  READ

FIGHT OVER FULTON SHEEN  The Catholic Diocese of Peoria won a court battle last week to bring the remains of Archbishop Fulton Sheen from St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City to the Peoria, Illinois. READ 
VOCATIONS GROWING QUICKLY   A Michigan Dominican order is growing so fast, they’re now adding a second convent. The second convent will be in Texas – because “Texans just get it.”  READ 
SAINT OF THE DAY   A convert from Calvinism, Saint John Ogilvie joined the Jesuits and was ordained to the priesthood. Doing secret ministry in Scotland, Saint John was arrested and tortured for a number of days before being martyred on March 10, 1615. He became the first Scottish saint post-Reformation. READ
